About

Tidewater Players Youth Programs offers youth educational programs, instructional intensive summer camps, and children's programs. These programs are part of Tidewater Players, which focuses on theatre and performance activities for young participants.

Tidewater Players was established in 1979 and has been performing exclusively in the second floor theatre of the historic Havre de Grace Opera House building since 1984. As of August 2017, it returned as the resident theatre to the newly renamed Cultural Center at the Opera House. The organization is one of the oldest continually operating community theatres in the area and is the resident theatre of Havre de Grace.

The mission of Tidewater Players is to serve the city of Havre de Grace by providing high quality entertainment at affordable prices, as well as youth educational programs and instructional intensive summer camps, and it maintains an all-inclusive, safe, and supportive space for all performers, production team members, and volunteers.

Tidewater Players is a non-profit theatre company whose Board of Directors, staff, directors, and actors are all volunteers. It has raised thousands of dollars for local charities including Movable Feast, The Trevor Project, and The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and it involves local actors, directors, musicians, and theater technicians in creating theatrical productions for Havre de Grace and the surrounding community.

The leadership team includes President Becky Flickinger, Vice President Tyler Zeisloft, Secretary Madai Chardon/Barb Snyder, Treasurer Mark Briner, and Director of Youth Programs Bobby Mahoney. Additional Directors are Stephanie Carlock, Janet Dill, Paua Diggs Smith, Steve Flickinger, Heidi Pensell, Megan Phelan, Lisa Standish, Dickson Teel, and Kenny Williamson. Legacy Members are Lilma Huntley and Paul Mauldin, and the founder is the late Harry Malin.
